How To Maintain Colored Hair: Tips For Keeping It Gorgeous

Seeing your hair color getting washed down the drain is never fun.

You either spent a fortune on it or took hours doing it yourself. Despite what can sometimes be a huge mistake, getting it right with colored hair can be a dream come true.

Which is why we put together these tips for protecting your gorgeous colored hair!

How to maintain colored hair: the best tips & tricks

1. Wait a Few Days Before Washing

When your hair is just done getting colored, your cuticles are still open and the dye is just starting to absorb into your hair.

This is why what is supposed to be platinum blonde or brunette can end up being something totally different. Waiting 48-72 hours before washing can help your color last longer.

Be sure to use a clarifying shampoo like our WOW Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo to remove all that buildup & excess oils (its also color-safe!).

Its also made with bioactives like Almond Oil & Apple Cider Vinegar for keeping your color-treated hair looking fresh & vibrant!

2. Shower Less

Everytime you wash, you lose a little bit of color. Really hot water can leech the color out of your hair as it opens your cuticles wide open.

To prevent this, use lukewarm water when shampooing your hair. (Although cold water always works best!) And consider shampooing less frequently. On no wash days, have a shower cap handy so your hair can stay dry.

3. Refresh with a Mist Tonic During No Wash Days

And what better way to stay fresh than with our WOW 10-In-1 Apple Cider Vinegar Mist Tonic on no wash days!

You can spray it directly on the roots by lifting your locks and start spritzing where the hair feels oiliest. Then massage it evenly onto your scalp with fingertips.

Other than smelling divine, this tonic mist coats your hair with natural goodness, leaving it shiny & touchably-soft

It comes in a convenient, travel-friendly bottle so you can bring it to protect your hair wherever you go!

4. Stay Away From Sulfates

After dyeing your hair you should start looking at the ingredients list on your shampoo bottles.

Hair products that contain sulfates can strip your hair of its natural oils and moisture, which basically leads to the stripping of your beautiful color treated hair (which you just spent a whole lot of money and time on.)

For long-lasting hair color, we recommend using natural shampoos like WOW Moroccan Argan Oil Sulfate Free Shampoo Set. Spoil yourself with its luxurious formula for shinier tresses!
