As guys, we forget to take care of our skin, which needs special care since the skin is thinner on the face. Our skin is the largest organ and our body’s natural defense against the elements we face every day. Healthy skin is the first defense against air pollution, germs, and bacteria that we come into contact with on a constant basis

We’re here to guide you on washing your face, moisturizing, and making the right decisions to enhance your skin’s strength, appearance, and overall health. Keep in mind that one skincare product that works for another man may not work for you. If your skin feels dry and too harsh after you wash your face, then you need something more gentle and hydrating. Don’t worry, we’ll break it down for you!

To check if a product will work for you, do a patch test. Leave a pea-size amount of product on the back of your neck or inside of your wrist and let it sit for 24 hours. If you develop a rash or other kind of irritation, then avoid using that product.

Cleanse Your Face

I am going to assume you take a shower each day, and if not then you should! From the moment you leave the comfort of your bed, you accumulate dirt and bacteria onto your skin. As your skin regenerates, it pushes the old dead skin cells to the outer layers of your dermis which give you a dull, dirty appearance. The worst thing to do at the end of your day is sleeping without cleansing your face and body of all the oily sludge, causing clogged pores, acne breakouts, unpleasant odors, and irritated skin. 

The trick is to regularly clean your skin, don’t sand it all off in one go. It is possible to over-cleanse, which can lead to dry, irritated skin, especially during winter months. If you live in a hot and humid climate or have an oily face by the end of the day, you can use a deeper cleanse to thoroughly wash all the dirt, oil, and pollution from the day.

The activated charcoal acts like a magnet for dirt and toxins hiding in the pores, leaving my face feeling incredibly clean and fresh. 

Wash Your Body

Moisturize

Cleansing and exfoliating are great, but if you don’t add moisture back into the skin then all your hard work is for nothing. WOW has great body lotions ranging from very light moisture to deeply hydrating formulas. Using the right moisturizers every day can reduce the chance of developing extreme dry or oily skin. Both extremes put your skin’s health out of balance and can cause common skin conditions like acne. Using a daily moisturizer ensures that the skin’s blemishes are camouflaged. 

Last tip, DON’T FORGET SPF! It’s essential to protect against damaging UV rays that can cause sunspots, sun damage, and skin cancer.
