How to Sleep With Curly Hair to Protect Your Curls at Night

You had a fantastic hair day - all of your products worked perfectly, and frizz was at bay. Your curl quality was unmatched all day long. But the main concern for any curly girl is: how can you make this last until tomorrow without having to use a shampoo and conditioner for your hair all over again? It's all about figuring out how to sleep with your hair so that you aren’t left with creases, frizz, or flattened curls the next morning.

You just have to find what works best for you based on the length of your hair, how loose or tight your curls are, and whether you sleep with your hair wet or dry. Here are some ideas to help you choose the ideal sleeping position / hairdo.

What is pineappling your hair?

Bedtime hairstyles are quite practical, especially for girls with curly hair. Many curly girls enjoy pineappling their hair while sleeping. Turn your dried hair over and lock it in a high, loose ponytail. To avoid breaking or scuffing the hair, use a scrunchie or a fabric-covered hair tie. Lift your head back up and divide the ponytail so that half of it is on either side of your head. A little sprinkle of water will do the trick the next morning!

Multi-pineapple, a modified version of the pineapple hair

If your hair is too short to form a pineapple on top of your head, it doesn't mean that this method can't work for you. There are numerous modified variants of pineapple hair, such as the multi-pineapple, which is made up of two or three pineapples. Divide your hair into small sections and tie up every section individually.

Wake up with a good hair day: 5 tips to sleep with curly hair

#1 Apply some night-time hair oil

Wow's Onion Black Seed Hair Oil

When you apply hair care products before bed, your hair absorbs them better. Therefore, the best time to use a nourishing oil is before going to bed. Our hair, like our skin, replenishes itself overnight and the hour before bed is ideal for treating it with extra nutrients.

Wow's Onion Black Seed Hair Oil contains almond, castor, jojoba, olive, and coconut oil. Made with 100 percent pure cold-pressed oils that moisturize, smooth, and enhance shine, this blend will help keep your curls in place and works as a conditioning agent with anti-frizz and curl-defining properties.

#2 Tie up a loose bun

Sleeping in a loose bun is a typical bedtime look for girls with straight hair as well as those with curly hair. It's one of the most effective methods for reducing frizz and keeping curls in their natural curly-like state. It's also a fantastic style to adopt while applying any products, since it holds everything together and encourages your curls to soak it all up.

To make a loose bun, flip your hair over, twirl it together, and twist it. Again, like with all of these evening looks, you need to be delicate with the hair to protect those precious curls. Tuck the ends of your hair into the bun shape on top of your head and fasten with a satin scrunchie.

#3 Use a satin bonnet

Satin bonnets have long been a standard for securing hair at night. Ask any grandma, and she will describe how lovely your curls will look the following day.

Satin hair bonnets are excellent for protecting natural hairstyles, but they are especially beneficial for curls. A bonnet will reduce friction on your hair throughout the night, preventing frizz and hair damage. And, if you use hair products at night, a bonnet will keep it all contained while also keeping your bedding clean. Wear a satin bonnet before bed and say goodbye to split ends, frizz, breakage, and knotted curls!

#4 Switch to silk or satin pillowcases

We can't stop ourselves from tossing and turning at night, but we can help decrease the harshness of the friction that our hair will endure. Cotton pillowcases absorb the natural oils and moisture in your hair and increase friction. An absorbent pillowcase combined with an already fragile curly hair is not a good combo for your morning look. Use a silk or satin pillowcase to keep frizz away and reduce breakage. They're gentler and will safeguard your curls' delicate structure.

#5 Try a leave-in treatment

WOW’s Hair Revitalizer

Because of the bends that stress the hair's exterior layer, curly and even wavy hair require more hydration. Breaks in the outer layer allow moisture to escape from the hair. Every step of your hair care routine should strive to incorporate extra moisture and nourishment.

WOW’s Hair Revitalizer can be applied before bed to nourish your hair throughout the night. It seals in moisture, detangles, smoothens, and softens hair, leaving it glossy and manageable.

How do you fix curly hair in the morning?

Soak your hands in filtered water, add a few drops of essential oil (properly diluted in a carrier oil), rub them together, and scrunch them into your curls. You can also pamper yourself with a brief scalp massage.

Curly hair may take a bit more time and attention at night, but it is well worth it. Getting out of bed with vibrant, bouncy curls is a terrific way to start the day.
