How To Get Rid Of Flaky Scalp

Read time: 1 minute / 3 Comments /

Having flaky scalp can easily become an annoyance in daily life. Naturally, you would have tried numerous “home remedies” but nothing has worked till now.

How to get rid of flaky scalp? Whether it just started or you have been having it for a while, here’s how you can deal with a flaking scalp effectively.

1. Be Gentle

Before attempting a remedy, it’s important to understand that having a flaking scalp is a symptom of a deeper underlying problem.

You don’t just have a ‘dry’ scalp. What you have is a scalp that’s been affected for months or even years with the wrong hair care products or mere improper hair care.

This means short term solutions no longer work and can even worsen your condition. The best thing you can do in order to get rid of dandruff and flaky scalp is to start cutting back on products that contain harsh ingredients and being more gentle when handling your hair.

2. Finding Out Why You Have Flaky Scalp

You may be able to find short term relief with different remedies and traditional shampoos.

However, if you are unable to pinpoint the cause of why you have a flaky scalp, the condition can persist. One way you can do this is by cutting out certain practices for a period of time.

For example, if you suspect your shampoo containing harsh ingredients that your scalp is reacting to, you can cut it out for a period of time. We recommend a time range of at least 3 to 8 months to see its effects.

3. Going ‘Natural’

Maybe your flaking is caused by something different like having Seborrheic Dermatitis (Dandruff) or a drastic change in your lifestyle. Even then, using traditional hair products that contain harsh ingredients will only cause more flaking.

To get rid of flakes and itchy scalp, we recommend going for products that rely on botanical ingredients rather than harmful chemicals.

Here are a few shampoos we recommend that are excellent for alleviating symptoms like scalp itching and flaking!

I have found that my scalp forms build-up while the rest of my hair is dry. My routine is WOW Activated Charcoal Shampoo and the Scalp Massager for the first shampooing which gets my scalp clean. Then, I follow-up with the Argon Oil Shampoo and the Scalp Massager for the second shampooing to be sure my hair is fully clean. I finish up with the Argan Oil Conditioner worked into my whole head, scalp to ends, with the Scalp Massager, and leave this on while I finish my shower. I shampoo three times a week and my hair looks and feels fabulous! All my thin spots have filled in and my hair is as thick as it was when I was younger! I also use Moroccan Rose Body Shampoo. It wonderfully moisturizes my skin and beautifully scents it as well! I am thrilled with my WOW products and I would recommend them to everyone!
