How to Clarify Your Scalp at Home

So you’ve spotted the gunks nesting on the roots of your scalp. Maybe you haven’t shampooed in a few days or you’ve been on a happy streak of various styling products.

And now you're looking for some scalp clarifying remedies that you can do right at home!

Why It’s Important to Clarify Your Scalp

Products that leave a residue like styling mousse and commercial conditioners are common culprits. When combined with natural causes of buildup like dead skin cells, sebum, and sweat, you run the risk of scalp infections.

This buildup can clog up your roots, causing discomfort as your roots get inflamed. Your scalp may even start to itch and develop sores that cause permanent scarring.

Clarifying Your Scalp at Home

Just like your skin, a regular exfoliating routine can be beneficial for your scalp. Stripping away all that buildup can make room for healthier follicles to grow over time!

1. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is a great fix for quickly removing buildup. Simply mix 1 part of lemon juice to 3 parts of water, massage it onto your scalp and rinse. If you have some serious buildup, you may have to leave it on your scalp a little longer.

The citric acid works as a natural clarifying agent for removing buildup. Alternatively, you can add a few drops of WOW Lemon Essential Oil to your shampoo for cleansing all that gunk.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is basically a miracle ingredient as it doesn’t just help remove buildup but has a wide array of other hair benefits.

The WOW Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo is a gentle clarifying shampoo made without any harsh ingredients.

It dissolves all that grime without stripping your hair's natural oils. Apple Cider Vinegar helps to close your hair cuticles as well which helps with adding a shimmery shine.

It's also able to restore the pH balance of your natural scalp, cultivating a healthy scalp for richer follicle growth.

3. Scalp Massager

Using the tips of your fingers can damage your scalp and cause contamination from fingernail dirt.

A scalp massager that’s made for your scalp like the WOW Stimulating Scalp Massager can avoid contamination & easily remove hardened excess sebum oils, dirt, and dandruff flakes.

I have ACV shampoo and conditioner, Argon Oil shampoo and conditioner also, but I love the Charcoal cleansing shampoo. After a hair cut I couldn’t control, the shampoo gave my hair such body. Plus I love the handheld massaging tool.

I noticed some of customers said they alternated different shampoos from this company. I’m curious why.
I loved the idea of the shampoo but the apple cider vinegar leaves my hair oily even the day I wash it. Wasn’t sure if I should alternate. It does leave it shiny and healthy but I don’t like to wash hair everyday because I’m trying to grow it out.

Very happy with my ACV shampoo, it’s a shame I no longer have anymore but will be purchasing more in the near future! Currently enjoying and trying the activated charcoal cleansing shampoo! Truly, all the products I’ve tried are great! Love them!
