Holi Beauty Hacks

There’s no better way to celebrate warmer weather than with Holi, the Indian festival of spring! If you’ve never partaken in this magical (and awesomely messy) holiday, imagine vibrant hues coloring your skin and clothes, uniting and welcoming joyful new beginnings. But beware, this blessed day can be stressful if you don’t properly prep your skin and hair for the ensuing chaos of colors. Check out our Holi beauty hacks so you can live in the WOW!

Let’s Start From The Beginning

Holi is one of the most celebrated festivals in India, signifying the victory of good over evil, new beginnings, and national pride. Celebrations begin with Holika Dahan/Choti Holi on March 9th. An effigy of Holika (the devil minded sister of demon King Hiranyakashyap) is placed in wood and burnt to symbolize the victory of good over evil and the triumph of a true devotee.

The play of colors, aka Dhuleti is celebrated on March 10th. People gather to dance to music, throw Holi powder, and enjoy the company of others. With this colorful play comes the aftermath of stained skin, hair, and clothes! With our beauty hacks, you can celebrate safely and stress-free.

Pre-Holi Prep

Protect yourself while dancing in the sun from harmful UV rays and free radicals. Festivities aren’t fun when you get sunburnt, dark spots, and dehydrated skin! Use SPF15 or SPF30, and be sure to reapply every 2 hours for optimum protection. Remember to drink lots of water and stay in the shade as much as possible.

Revive dehydrated skin with WOW Skin Science 10-in-1 Apple Cider Vinegar Mist Tonic. All-natural active ingredients like Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, Rose Water, Aloe Vera Extract and more work to balance and nourish dry, dull skin.

Prep yourself for the color staining that’s going to happen. Safe to say you shouldn’t wear your favorite outfit! Expect your face, hair, and clothes (even undergarments) to be stained with various colors. Especially if you have light or bleached hair, wear an updo to avoid Holi color throughout your hair strands.

Post-Holi

After the festivities, immediately rinse as much color off as you can. Pro-tip for getting home, cover your car seats with garbage bags to protect the interior! Now, how do you protect your skin, hair, and body from color staining?

Cleanse your face and body to remove sweat, dirt, pollution, and holi color from pores. Draw out impurities and hydrate with WOW Skin Science Charcoal 2-in-1 Shampoo & Body Wash for the ultimate deep clean. Nourish sun-drenched skin with hydrating Argan oil, Sweet almond oil, and Aloe vera extract in this multitasking bathroom essential.
